This crawl is part of our catalogue of lesser known locations outside of London (within an hour or so train journey). This route takes you through the traditional and scenic town of Hertford in the county of Hertfordshire, located just North of London. It is a circular route (starting and finishing at the train station), so it’s easy to return home once finished.

You’ll pass through the main areas of the town, including the shopping street and marketplace, but also the beautiful quiet riverside bridges and buildings. You’ll learn about the brewing history of the area and the McMullen family empire, who’ve left their mark on the town in various locations. You’ll also learn about the history of some of its most important buildings including Hertford Castle and the famous visitors it has had over the years.
